What Does ABC Therapy Clinics’ Autism Screening Process Look Like?
Our autism screenings consist of a three-part process: a parent interview, a direct assessment of skills, and a comprehensive report based on our findings.
1. Parent Interview
Primary caregivers have the most supervision and direct interaction with a patient. This allows them to be more aware of certain behaviors, milestones, or challenges their child is currently experiencing and properly communicate these details to be considered in the screening process.
2. Direct Assessment of Skills
The second part of the screening process involves a direct assessment of your child’s social skills, communication skills, behavior patterns, and developmental delays. Our team of professionals will closely observe your child’s interactions, play skills, language development, and response to social cues while utilizing standardized autism screening tools and questionnaires to gather more objective information. These evaluations provide valuable insights into your child’s strengths, challenges, and areas of development that may require further assessment.
3. Comprehensive Report
The final part of the process involves a diagnostic review in the form of a report. Our team will thoroughly analyze the information gathered from the autism screening to determine if a formal autism diagnosis will be required. If a diagnosis is warranted, we will provide you with a detailed explanation of why in the report, as well as recommendations for a medical professional we would recommend performing the official evaluation. Please note, even if a diagnosis is not given, our professionals may provide guidance and suggestions for addressing any additional developmental concerns that were identified during the autism screening.
